Modern: Explore the dynamism and creativity of Modern Dance. Our Modern classes are grounded on the pedagogy Artistic Director Kim Robards has created over decades of professional experience, centered in sound Modern Dance technique. Taught by our seasoned instructors, modern classes are based on solid technical training which emphasize developing strength, flexibility, stamina and musicality. Whether you are stepping into the world of modern dance for the first time or coming with previous experience, our classes provide a non-intimidating environment for you to expand your movement vocabulary and explore your artistic abilities.

Modern for young dancers develops the most well-rounded dancers through the broadest scope of technical skills. Our Modern classes are grounded on the pedagogy Artistic Director Kim Robards has created over decades of professional experience, centered in sound Modern Dance technique. Taught by our seasoned instructors, modern classes are based on solid technical training which emphasize building strength, flexibility, stamina and musicality, with opportunities at various levels for guided exploration of creative movement ideas, developing improvisation skills, and gaining understanding of choreography concepts. Classes are offered for beginning through Advanced levels in a welcoming and inclusive environment for youth to enrich technical and artistic capabilities and develop an expanded movement vocabulary.

Women's Health Initiative utilizes dance as the foundation and transformative tool engaging, positively impacting and supporting women’s daily emotional, physical, social, well-being towards increasing longevity and quality of life based on dance’s inherent ability to transcend socio-economic barriers and connect participants through the most basic shared human experience: Movement.

A variety of classes are offered for women of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. No previous experience is required for participation in any of the classes in the Women's Health Initiative. Staff and Faculty includes English and Spanish speakers towards ensuring accessibility.

Stretch & Strengthen focuses on improving participants' overall flexibility and cardio, as well as developing full body and core strength towards overall improved health. Class incorporates stationery body weight exercises and dance concepts including movement across the floor, using both timed exercise rotations and movement choreographed to music.

​

Theraband and Reformer Classes provide specific strength building exercises and are positive options for injury recovery or injury prevention. Classes are available as Open Classes, Semi-Private (2 participants) or Private Classes. Rates vary depending on class type selected by participant.

Yoga combines concepts of breath, flow, balance, strength, and softening. Each class incorporates a grounding practice, movement flows synchronized with the breath, the yoga asanas, and meditation. Yoga unites the body, mind, and spirit and will leave you feeling energized and inspired.

Kym Gym is a dance and fitness based workout developed by Artistic Director Kim Robards to develop strength and stamina, coordination, improve physical well-being and mental clarity through a focused and fun series of repeatable movement skills.

Ballet Barre focuses on basic ballet skills achieved while using the barre for support. The primary focus is on improving flexibility, balance, strength and coordination.

Empower Hour is a beginning level movement class based in modern dance concepts designed specifically for women ages 55 and wiser.

Classes for women with Parkinson's and those recovering from breast cancer are now evolving. Please inquire.

Creative Movement provides a fun and focused environment designed to introduce children to: basic locomotor skills such as hopping, skipping, galloping, among others; and to movement concepts like low, middle, high levels, and shapes, for example. Students learn about overall coordination, rhythm and musicality.

Pre-Ballet introduces children to basic ballet concepts such as plie and chasse, develops rhythm and musicality, and evolves overall coordination.

Ballet classes for adults are offered for beginners to advanced levels providing the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and master advanced concepts of classical ballet. Taught by experienced instructors, classes focus on proper technique, body alignment, flexibility, and musicality. Whether you are a beginner or have previous dance experience, our ballet classes provide a nurturing yet challenging environment to develop technical skills and self-expression towards the mastery of the art of ballet.​

Ballet classes in our Youth Program offer students of all ages the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and master advanced concepts of classical ballet. Classes focus on proper technique, body alignment, flexibility, and musicality. Youth new to ballet as well as those with previous experience will find beginner to advanced level classes to meet their needs. Taught by experienced and personable professionals our ballet classes provide a nurturing yet challenging environment to develop technical skills and self-expression towards the mastery of the art of ballet.

Pointe is offered for Intermediate to Advanced level Pre-Teens and Teens who have appropriate technical skills to engage in Pointe work.

Jazz: Get into the rhythm with our vibrant jazz classes. Professional instructors teach classes founded in classic jazz techniques towards developing an understanding of jazz vocabulary, body isolations, and enhancing coordination. Experience spirited choreography and lively music. Whether you are drawn to the timeless appeal of jazz or simply looking for a fun way to stay active, our jazz classes will immediately engage you.

Tap classes are offered for beginning level adults. These classes present the basics of tap dance in an enjoyable environment designed to introduce adults to the art of tap through developing technical skills, musicality and rhythm.

Jazz classes are founded in classic jazz techniques towards developing a comprehensive understanding of jazz technique, body isolations, and enhancing overall coordination. Professional instructors teach in a manner to simultaneously nurture and challenge students at all levels. Experience and contribute to developing dynamic choreography.

Tap classes are offered for beginning through intermediate levels. Classes provide introduction to and development of tap technique designed to introduce youth to the art of tap through developing technical skills, musicality and rhythm.

Mexican Folklorico classes introduce participants to the rich history of Hispanic and Latino culture through traditional dance. Classes teach the technical skills of Mexican Folklorico including developing rhythm, musicality, and intricate footwork. Taught by Folkorico dancers with broad professional experience, classes expand cultural awareness and teach historical dances.
