From the Big Apple to the Great Wall

And Back Home to the Magnificent Rockies.

Kim Robards Dance is excited to share wonderful news that as a result of the success of KRD's recent Joyce SoHo performances in New York and the resulting outstanding New York Times review, Artistic Director Kim Robards and her company have been invited to represent the best of their genre before the best in the world in Beijing in August 2008 during the first annual "booking DANCE FESTIVAL 2008 beijing - coinciding with the Olympics." KRD will serve as a cultural attaché for the US as well as Colorado during this once in a lifetime cultural exchange. Subsequent to the invitation to perform in Beijing for the dance festival from August 10-19, KRD has received an exclusive invitation from China 's Gateway to Music program to be presented in full evening concerts featuring Kim Robards Dance throughout China in the summer of 2009.

During the first annual " booking DANCE FESTIVAL 2008 beijing " to take place in Beijing, China, from August 10-19 th , 2008, Kim Robards Dance, and just two other elite US dance companies, will share the stage in seven performances with China's finest dance companies: Beijing Modern Dance Company and choreographers from the National Ballet of China. Scheduled are four evening performances at The Nine Theatres in Beijing ; this venue is comparable to The Kennedy Center in Washington , DC . Three matinee performances are scheduled for an "off site" Nine Theatre venue on the outskirts of Beijing for migrant workers and outdoors at an Olympic related venue . The dance companies have also been invited to perform excerpts at international press galas in conjunction with Olympic celebrations .

This opportunity has led to an exclusive invitation for Kim Robards Dance to be hosted for an additional tour throughout China by the Gateway to Music program during which KRD will be featured in our own full evening concerts in the summer of 2009 in 7-10 other cities throughout China. Upon viewing Ms. Robards' work on DVD, the Chinese presenter and their media agent wrote , "We are very impressed with the works (have watched the DVD enclosed) and would love to incorporate KRD into the Gateway to Music summer music program." Currently the plan is to perform again in Beijing , and also perform in Tianjin , Shijiazhuang , Jinan , Nanjing , Shanghai , Hangzhou , Ningbo and several other cities.

Performances followed by artist talks, and high profile gala events enable the company to interact with Chinese citizens as well as audience members from around the world, including athletes participating in the Olympic Games who will receive tickets to the performances.

Upon returning from China , KRD intends to incorporate these experiences into our US touring and into our respected and award-winning educational outreach programming to share first hand cultural experiences with Colorado youth and community members at large. KRD has already spoken with the Asian arts and cultural organization in Denver about potential collaborative efforts to this end and is working to secure a videographer to document this amazing cultural experience.

This unique artistic and educational occasion affords Colorado the opportunity to be represented in front of the world on a world stage with KRD as a cultural delegate for the artistic excellence our State has to offer. But, this opportunity has presented itself suddenly and while KRD excitedly anticipates participating in this amazing event, it will require securing business sponsorships and individual contributions to do so.

Please consider at this time, assisting Kim Robards Dance in making possible this international tour and subsequent educational outreach back at home upon our return, through a donation. As a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit, charitable tax-exempt corporation, all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

In addition to the amazing performance opportunities for Kim Robards Dance and the honor of the invitation to be presented throughout China , this will project will provide extensive exposure for sponsors and has a wonderful series of educational and community events available to supporters upon KRD's return to Colorado .

Sponsors of the China project receive unprecedented exposure in all KRD printed materials during a ground breaking artistic cultural exchange while in China , and exposure in subsequent artistic, touring and educational programming back in the US throughout KRD's full 2008-09 touring season as well. Sponsor exposure will be available from the time sponsorship is received into KRD's 22 nd Season through the China tour in 2009.
