As a Director...

Ms. Robards' career spans nearly three decades as a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher.  Ms. Robards is noted for her professional and personable leadership style creating a Company and a milieu that is simultaneously cutting edge and welcoming.  In addition to creating the critically acclaimed original modern dance repertoire for her Company, she also actively teaches and performs with her Company and in educational settings from professional studios to outreach environments.  Ms. Robards has continued for more than twenty years to develop her singular vision.  With a notable training background, she built upon this and her natural talent, to forge her own direction. 

Ms. Robards presented her first self-directed professional dance concert at the University of Colorado Boulder under the auspices of Kim Robards and Dancers in 1986 to realize her artistic dream and thus planting the seed for what would grow into a recognized and respected dance organization with a 24 year history of representing the finest programming in the dance genre.  Following the success of her first endeavor, Ms. Robards partnered with a small group of peers to establish Colorado Repertory Dance Company in 1987 for the purpose of presenting Ms. Robards work and that of emerging regional and national modern dance choreographers.  With a growing regional and national interest in the talents of Ms. Robards work, the Company in 1993 changed its’ name to Kim Robards Dance, Inc. in order to support the creation and presentation of Ms. Robards’ unique choreographic style, as well as to implement her effective teaching methods in community outreach and dancer training.
